Metal

There are a type of
People
Whose hearts are cast of
Iron
Whose eyes are the coldest
Steel
Their hands are always
Reaching
To take and hurt and
Kill
Their words are gilded with
Sweet lies and
Terrible truths
They’ll strangle all the
Joy
From you
Till there’s nothing you can
Do
Look into that
Plastic smile
For it’s never
True
They’re all falling apart
Inside
And they want to tear you down
Too
Their tears are cast aside
Along with the feelings they
Represent
Never do they stop to ask
“Is it myself that I truly resent?”
Seas of knowledge locked inside
Their ever hiding
Minds
Any beautiful thoughts that
Seep through the cracks
Are always left
Behind
Is there nothing left in you?
You people made of
Metal
Or are you simply full
Lifeless gears
That will one day
Cease to grind?
Tell me, metal people
Is there any love left in
You
For fragile ones to
Find?
